Claudia Russell and Bruce Kaplan
Claudia Russell is a world-class vocalist, songwriter and guitarist based in Pt. Richmond. Accompanied by her husband, Bruce Kaplan, on guitar and mandolin, Claudia plays a style all her own, woven from her musical loves—folk, blues, western swing, rock and county. She has an expressive voice that is as home on a whispery ballad as a full-tilt Buddy Holly-styled romp. Claudia's performances are truly heartfelt and entertaining. Using humor, personal stories and her "Who me?" attitude, Claudia quickly bonds with audiences, winning them over with her powerful voice and signature guitar voicings. Claudia was recognized as Best Musician by the East Bay Express Reader’s poll and has been featured in the SF Chronicle, the Boston Globe, Sing Out Magazine as well as on West Coast Live, NPR’s All things Considered and KQED’s Do List. You can see Claudia and Bruce close up and personal right here at the Live Oak Park Fair Pub!

Tippy Canoe
Originally from Baltimore and now based in sunny Oakland, songbird and solo uke-slinger, Tippy Canoe (Michele Kappel), made the switch from a 5-piece drum kit with the garage-pop princesses The Kirby Grips (Sympathy For The Record Industry), to a 4-stringed ukulele in 2003. Since then she’s been on a mission with her band the Paddlemen to bring sincere uplift in a severely down-slanted era by spreading her hook-laden pop-meets-roots music. On her debut full-length album, “Parasols & Pekingese,” released in 2008 on Late Bloomers Works and recorded with her full band the Paddlemen, Tippy Canoe shows off her enchanting and dynamic sound. Her voice is a mixture of the 60's girl group sound and classic country with its own quirky nature shining through.
